What Is My Skin Type
We recommend booking a facial with our knowledgable and friendly estheticians. Your skin will be analyzed and your skin type will be determined. We will recommend the best facial for your specific skintype and products to use at home so you can maintain the results of your treatment. Here is some preliminary information that may help:
Balanced - Skin is neither oily nor dry. The moisture and oil content are well balanced.
-Do you have even skin color, free of red or dark patches?
-Are you free of enlarged pores?
-Did acne problems clear up after high school?
-Does your hair stay fresh between shampoos?
-Can you try products without fear of irritation?
Oily - Your skin produces lots of oil on a regular basis and has a greasy and shiny look. Pores are often enlarged with blackheads and tendency for acne. More common in adolescent as their sebum secretion is more.
-Did you have a problem with acne during high school?
-Does your hair tend to be oily?
-Does your foundation tend to wear off within a few hours?
-Do you wake up with an oily film on your nose, forehead, and chin?
-Do you tan easily?
Dry - Your skin has trouble retaining moisture and due to lack of sebum and moisture, the skin looks and feels dry to the touch. Epidermal cells do not hold adequate natural moisture resulting in premature wrinkling.
-Are you under thirty-five?
-Is your hair dry?
-Do your hands often feel tight and rough?
-Does your skin feel tight after washing or showering?
-Did your skin sail through adolescence with little or no problems?
Sensitive - Sensitive skin is prone to redness and is easily placed in distress by environmental factors like wind and cold. Your skin will often react to many skin product ingredients that cause no one else any problems. People with sensitive skin tend also to have very fair skin, with capillaries close to the surface.
Mature - Skin starts maturing after 25 years of age. The natural oil and moisture level drops, the muscle tone is decreased, blood circulation becomes poor. All these lead to a dry, wrinkled and shallow skin. Decrease in metabolic rate gives a puffy look due to accumulation of metabolites.
Dull & Pigmented- Some people, particularly as they age, develop skin that is sallow looking, devoid of color and just basically very blah looking. Or you may have really freckled and/or have uneven coloring on your face.
Acneic- Acne skin is usually oily and distinguished by blackheads and pimples.
-Do new products tend to make your skin break out?
-Did you have moderate to severe acne during high school?
-Does your skin break out even if you are careful about your cleansing and diet?
-Are you troubled by dandruff?
-Did your parents have oily or acne-troubled skin?
