LaStone® Therapy

Original Body Workshop

LaStone® Therapy is a multifaceted technique designed to benefit client and therapist at once. The sacred wisdom of the stones, the clinical benefits of hydrotherapy and energy work, blend together to bring forth-therapeutic potential that goes beyond measure.

This unique form of massage utilizes 54 basalt, hot stones and 18-22 marble, jade or sardoynx cool stones. Geo-thermo-therapy is the term to describe the application of stones of contrasting temperatures for therapeutic effect to the body. Alternating temperatures creates ‘vascular gymnastics’ of the circulatory system, assisting the body in self-healing. Deep relaxation is only one of the benefits; grounding, balancing and release of energetic holding patterns frequently occur.

Therapists discover that the stress and strain of their hands, wrists and elbows is virtually eliminated using this modality. The stones and thermal variation do all the heavy work, so therapists are able to work more efficiently for longer periods of time.

All of those involved in this training will develop more reverence for their daily work rituals, because respect and appreciation grow organically from this fertile learning experience.

This is an advanced course of Massage therapy and offers 30 hours of CEU’s

Linda-Anne Kahn CLT-LANA CIDESCO HHP is an internationally trained Beauty Therapist, Clinical Aromatherapist, Holistic Health Practitioner, and Lymphedema Therapist with over 28 years in the industry. Linda-Anne is Board Certified as an Internationally recognized Cidesco Diplomate and is a Nationally certified massage therapist. She is Nationally certified as a Lymphedema therapist by the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA). She holds an International certification as a Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist and Lymphedema Specialist from the Dr Vodder School Austria and the Dr Foeldi School, Germany. Linda Anne holds aromatherapy certifications with Eve Taylor of London and has trained with Drs Daniel Penoel, Pierre Francomme and Claude LaPraz of France as well as Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy. She is on the research committee for AIA (Alliance of International Aromatherapists). Linda-Anne is the Director and founder of Beauty Kliniek Aromatherapy Day Spa and Medical Wellness Kliniek in San Diego, the most complete Health and Beauty and Wellness Center in Southern California. Linda-Anne has been featured as business person of the year and was voted Spa person of the year 2004 by the Day Spa association. She is a regular speaker at many conferences and has been teaching Aromatherapy certification classes for over 15 years.

 

Dr. Vodder’s Manual Lymph Drainage .

Dr Vodder's Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is an advanced therapy in which the practitioner uses a range of specialized and gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to move the skin in the direction of lymph flow. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels which carry substances vital to the defense of the body and removes waste products. Benefits include healing of fractures, torn ligaments and sprains, improves many chronic conditions: sinusitis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, relieves fluid congestion: swollen ankles, puffy eyes, swollen legs due to pregnancy, may strengthen immune system

Description:
The practical sessions of this course include special techniques for the joints, the head (including intra-oral) and abdomen. They introduce the student to therapeutic applications such as post operative and post trauma indications. A review of all Basic techniques and sequences is given. In the theory sessions, advanced theory and current research is discussed as well as a review of Basic theory. A written and practical exam is given to test the student's competence in Basic techniques and theory.

Please come prepared for the Therapy I class. Read through your Basic notes, practice and review techniques and sequences using the Basic DVD. If you do not have them already the Basic DVD and Lecture Notes are available for purchase to prepare you for the course. Knowing the treatment sequences learned in Basic will help tremendously in this class. If possible, practice with someone who has completed the class. Description:
This is an intensive course involving extensive hands-on work. The basic strokes and their application to each body part are taught. The theory covers anatomy and physiology of the lymph vessel system, connective tissue, effects of MLD and contraindications. Lymphedemas are described with an emphasis on how Manual Lymph Drainage can affect them.
